No fewer than 10 people escaped death in two accidents that occurred along the Lusada–Agbara and Lagos–Abeokuta Expressways on Monday.
PUNCH Metro learnt this from two traffic updates by the spokesperson for the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, Babatunde Akinbiyi, on Monday.
According to Akinbiyi, the first accident occurred at the Ilese Pan axis of the Lagos–Abeokuta Expressway at about 12 p.m. He noted that an eyewitness account indicated that a Honda Pilot vehicle had lost control due to speeding and collided with two other cars.Akinbiyi said, “A multiple RTA at Ilese Pan, Lagos–Abeokuta Expressway on 22/09/2025.
The vehicles involved are a grey Honda Pilot car with registration number ABB 99 ML, a green Almera car with registration number WDE 134 LE, and a green Micra taxi with registration number ABB 431 XS. “According to the eyewitness account, the Honda Pilot car collided with both the Almera car and the Micra taxi.”
The spokesperson added that seven people were involved in the accident, one person sustained a minor injury, while six others escaped unhurt. Seven people were involved, one person was injured, but nobody died in the accident.Initially, traffic was affected, but normality was restored after the evacuation of the crashed vehicles from the road.
In another update, Akinbiyi noted that three people escaped death in an accident that occurred at the Mango bus stop along the Lusada–Agbara Expressway at about 10 a.m. He identified the vehicles involved as an ash-coloured Howo truck with number plate TRN 376 ZY and a white Mack truck with number plate FFF 861 XB.
Akinbiyi added, “According to an eyewitness account, reckless driving on the part of the Howo truck driver led to a collision with the Mack truck. Three male adults were involved; none sustained injury, and no death was recorded.”
He concluded that the traffic build-up that ensued after the accident was swiftly managed by emergency responders comprising TRACE personnel and the police.
PUNCH Metro reported on August 22 that six people lost their lives while 19 others were injured after a passenger vehicle somersaulted due to a tyre burst at Osuponri Village near the ICT Polytechnic, Itori, along the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway.
Akinbiyi had confirmed that the vehicle, a Toyota bus with number plate KJA 851 YH, was loaded with 27 passengers when the accident occurred at about 11 a.m.
